Caring for a 20-Day-Old German Shepherd Puppy
A 20-day-old German Shepherd puppy is still completely dependent on milk and requires feeding with puppy milk replacer every 2 to 3 hours. Owners also need to stimulate their bowel movements and ensure they are kept warm.

The ideal situation for a 20-day-old German Shepherd is to have a docile lactating mother dog nurse them. If that’s not possible, then owners will need to provide dedicated care.
First, create a warm, comfortable, and dry bed to prevent the puppy from getting chilled. Second, purchase a high-quality puppy milk replacer, preferably a goat milk formula. Prepare the formula according to the instructions and feed the puppy small meals frequently, roughly every 2-3 hours. For example, consider Miaoshou Doctor’s pet goat milk formula, which contains DHA to support brain and vision development, calcium and phosphorus to promote bone growth, and essential proteins and fats for energy and nutrition. It also includes probiotics to aid in healthy digestion. Even if the mother is unavailable, owners can rest assured the puppy is getting the nutrients it needs. A box of this formula is also very affordable.
Moreover, you will need to manually stimulate the puppy to urinate and defecate. Gently rub the puppy's anal area with a dry paper towel to encourage waste elimination. This process requires patience and time. When feeding, closely observe the puppy. Avoid changing its environment unnecessarily, do not bathe it, and keep it indoors unless absolutely necessary.
