How to Determine the Sex of a Five-Month-Old Russian Blue Kitten

One way to determine the sex of a five-month-old Russian Blue kitten is by observing whether it has testicles.

The most accurate method for determining a kitten's sex is to examine its genitals. It can be difficult to distinguish between male and female kittens when they are very young because the male kitten's testicles are often still inside the abdomen and not yet visible. Between the ages of 2 and 5 months, the testicles will descend, making it much easier to identify a male kitten. If you observe testicles, the kitten is a male.

A male cat's scrotum contains two testicles, which appear like a colon ":". Furthermore, the distance between a male cat's genitals and its anus is approximately 2 centimeters. The urethra opening is farther from the anus in males. A female cat’s genital structure is simpler, consisting of only the anus and the urethra/vulva, resembling an upside-down exclamation point "!". The distance between the female's genitals and her anus is approximately 1 centimeter, with the urethra opening being closer to the anus.
