How Much Do Ragdoll Cats Weigh? Average Weight at One Year Old

Ragdoll cats typically weigh between 12 to 20 pounds. They are considered a large breed of cat. At birth, a Ragdoll kitten can weigh around one to two pounds. By three months old, they usually reach about three pounds. A fully grown male Ragdoll cat can weigh up to 20 pounds, while a female Ragdoll typically weighs around 16 pounds. However, not all Ragdolls will grow to be this large; their weight is also influenced by their diet and care.

As a large breed, Ragdoll cats generally fall within the 12 to 20-pound range. However, individual weights may vary due to genetics, nutrition, environment, and overall health. Purebred Ragdolls usually fall within this range. Generally, male Ragdolls can weigh around 10 kg (approximately 22 pounds), while females are typically lighter, around 8 kg (approximately 17.6 pounds). A Ragdoll's weight is also affected by its owner's feeding practices; proper nutrition can contribute to a larger size.

Ragdoll Cat Care Tips

1. Ragdoll cats prefer warm food. Cold or refrigerated food can reduce their appetite and cause digestive issues. The optimal food temperature is around 30 to 40 degrees Celsius (86 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit). If food has been refrigerated, warm it up before serving.

2. Although Ragdoll cats don't drink a lot of water, they must always have access to fresh, clean water. Water bowls should be cleaned and refilled daily. A water bowl can be placed near the food bowl for easy access.

3. It's essential to brush your Ragdoll cat daily. Ragdolls have long fur that is prone to matting if not groomed regularly. This also provides an opportunity to check for parasites or injuries and promotes circulation and coat health. Daily grooming also strengthens the bond between you and your cat.
