During this time, ensure their food is fresh and clean, and that the cage is cleaned often. However, if the problem persists, it could indicate that your budgie is sick. How to Assess Your Budgie's Health Through Its Droppings

If your budgie primarily eats pellets, its droppings will usually be brown or dark brown. If the diet is varied, the color of the droppings can also vary, some budgies will use the color to confirm the food is safe to eat. For instance, if your budgie has not eaten solid food in the past 24 hours, its droppings might resemble a thick, dark green tar, which indicates the presence of biliverdin from the liver. This could also mean the bird has liver dysfunction if there is an excess amount.

Urates, which appear opaque, white, or milky, are also present in budgie droppings. Urates are a byproduct of protein metabolism in the digestive system, eliminated through the kidneys. If your budgie has liver issues, the urates may appear slightly green or yellow. If any yellow tinge is present it could indicate problems with the liver or kidneys.
