How to Eliminate Bird Mites and Feather Lice at Home: Can White Vinegar Kill Them?
If you're dealing with bird mites or feather lice at home, one method involves using crushed garlic. Apply the garlic pulp to areas where these parasites frequently reside. While white vinegar may not be effective in killing these parasites directly on your bird, proper medication is necessary for effective treatment.

Another effective homemade remedy includes boiling 2 ounces of Sophora root and one crushed garlic clove in 1.5 kilograms of water. After boiling, allow the mixture to cool, and then place it into a container. When your bird bathes, add approximately 0.25 kilograms of this solution to the bathwater. After the bath, use the same solution to clean the cage thoroughly. This method, when applied twice, can effectively eliminate the parasites. This treatment is safe for your birds, so feel free to try it. Garlic pulp can also be applied to the cracks and crevices of the birdcage where mites often hide. This will eliminate their hiding spots.
Alternatively, consider adding a few cigarette butts to your bird's bathwater. Soak these for a few hours and then allow the bird to bathe in the solution.
For a more direct approach, purchase bird-specific mite and lice treatment medication online or from pet stores. Opt for medications that are safe even if ingested by your bird. Apply the medication, preferably as a spray, when your bird is not aware, such as during the evening or early morning before feeding. You can also dilute the product in bathwater, based on the usage instructions provided with your chosen product. Finally, supplement your bird's diet with feather-growth enhancers and vitamins, to support feather regrowth and overall health.Learn more:Pet Grooming
