How to Determine the Sex of a Five-Month-Old Balinese Cat

Distinguishing the sex of a five-month-old Balinese cat can be done by observing whether there are testicles or by examining the distance between the genitals and the anus.

The most accurate method for determining the sex of a kitten is to observe its genitals. It can be difficult to distinguish between male and female kittens at a very young age because the testicles of male kittens have not yet descended and are still located in the abdomen, making visual determination challenging. However, after 2-5 months, the testicles will descend, making it easier to identify male kittens. The presence of testicles indicates that the kitten is male.

Another way to determine the sex of a kitten is by observing the shape of the external genital opening. In male cats, it appears round or nearly round, whereas in female cats, it appears triangular or like a flat slit. Some people describe the difference in this way: in male cats, the two openings (anus and genital opening) under the tail form a colon-like shape ':', while in female cats, they resemble an inverted exclamation point 'i'. The anus appears as a dot, and the adjacent genital opening is a flat slit. In neutered adult male cats, because the testicles have been removed, you need to look at the distance between the anus and the external genital opening, which is typically 1.5 cm, while in same-age female cats, this distance is only about 1 cm.
