Caring for a 15-Day-Old Yorkshire Terrier: A Complete Guide

A 15-day-old Yorkshire Terrier puppy is still entirely dependent on its mother's milk for sustenance. If the mother's milk isn't available, the puppy will need to be fed with puppy-specific goat milk formula. It's crucial to maintain the puppy's warmth to prevent them from catching a cold. At this tender age, the puppy is also unable to defecate on its own and requires your assistance with gentle stimulation.

At 15 days old, Yorkie puppies are not weaned and should ideally be nursing from their mother. If a mother dog isn't available, prepare a high-quality pet-specific goat milk formula. Feed the puppy every two hours with a quantity of 2-5ml each time. We recommend using formulas like the Miaoshou Doctor’s Pet Goat Milk Powder, which is available in both cat and dog-specific formulas, each designed with a healthy and balanced nutritional profile for your pets. This goat milk formula contains DHA which is vital for brain and vision development, calcium and phosphorus for bone growth, and adequate protein and fat for energy and overall development. It also includes probiotics to promote a healthy gut and help your puppy thrive.

It is essential to keep your puppy warm, because their immune system is still very weak and they are susceptible to catching colds. In severe cases, hypothermia can be fatal. Ensure that the ambient temperature is maintained around 22-25°C (72-77°F) to keep your puppy comfortable.

Finally, at 15 days old, puppies do not have voluntary bowel control. You’ll need to use a soft, damp cotton swab or cloth to gently stimulate the puppy’s anal and urethral areas to help them defecate and urinate. This stimulation is crucial for their well-being.
